What is Latitude?
Latitude is the studio behind AI Dungeon, the 2019 text adventure that proved millions of people would happily play a game with no script at all. Its current focus is Voyage, launched in expanded beta in April 2026, which takes that idea considerably further. Where AI Dungeon was essentially one model improvising a story, Voyage adds a proprietary World Engine that layers deterministic systems, challenges, progression and world persistence underneath the generative layer. Multiple AI systems work together to narrate actions, manage gameplay, track characters and objects, and remember backstories and relationships, so consequences stick rather than evaporating a few turns later. Anyone can design a custom world in natural language and publish it for others to play. The technical stack mixes Latitude's own models with Google's Gemini Flash for images and Gemma for text and audio, backed by a partnership with Google's AI Futures Fund. Early testers have interacted with over 160,000 unique AI characters, averaging close to 3,000 choices per player. AI Dungeon continues alongside it on a credit and context based subscription ladder.
