What is Runway?

Runway is a professional AI creative platform for filmmakers, designers and agencies. Its Gen-4.5 model tops quality benchmarks for motion, and the studio around it reaches well past generation: Aleph for video editing, Act-Two for performance capture, image generation, upscaling and workflow automation. Paid plans have also turned it into a multi-model hub, bundling Veo, Kling and Seedance under a single subscription. Credits buy seconds, and the exchange rate is the number that matters. Gen-4.5 costs about 25 credits per second, so Standard's 625 monthly credits equal roughly 25 seconds of flagship video, not 25 clips. Gen-4 runs 12 credits per second and Gen-4 Turbo 5, so experienced users draft on cheap models and finish on expensive ones. The free plan is 125 one-time credits, watermarked, with no Gen-4.5 access. Standard is $12 a month annually, and Max replaced the old Unlimited tier during 2026.
