What is NotebookLM?
NotebookLM is Google's research notebook: you upload your own sources, and Gemini answers questions using only that material, citing back to the specific passage. That grounding is why researchers trust it more than general chatbots for document work, and its Audio Overviews, which turn a source set into a two-host discussion, made it unusually popular outside academia too. Two current details matter. Google renamed the product Gemini Notebook in July 2026, keeping features and pricing unchanged but changing the name and web address, so check your link. And there is no standalone subscription: the free tier covers 100 notebooks, 50 sources each and 50 daily chats, while higher limits arrive bundled inside Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans reported between roughly $4.99 and $199.99 monthly. Google Workspace Business Standard and above include the Plus tier already.
