What is Tome?

Tome was among the most talked-about AI presentation tools of 2023 and 2024, generating narrative-driven decks from prompts using a tile-based format rather than fixed slides, and its AI built the structural argument connecting slides rather than just filling them. It reached roughly 20 million users and raised over $80 million at a $300 million valuation. The presentation product no longer exists. Tome announced the pivot in October 2024, confirmed the sunset in March 2025 and shut the deck tool down on 30 April 2025; presentations not exported beforehand were deleted. Despite the user numbers, annual recurring revenue reportedly stayed under $4 million, a case of people loving a free product without paying for it. The founding team went on to build Lightfield, an AI-native CRM, and the Tome brand was acquired by AngelList. Anything named Tome today is a different product.
