FreemiumAI-powered code editor with Cascade agent, memory, and MCP support, trusted by 1M+ developers to write 94% of their code with AI assistance.
What is Windsurf?
Windsurf is an agentic AI code editor built on a VS Code fork, best known for Cascade, an agent that holds whole-codebase context, runs terminal commands, auto-fixes lint errors and keeps multi-file changes consistent with visible plans, checkpoints and rollback. Ownership has changed twice: originally a Codeium product, it was acquired by Cognition, the team behind Devin, and renamed Devin Desktop on 2 June 2026, with windsurf.com now redirecting to devin.ai. That history matters when you evaluate it. Pricing was overhauled in March 2026, replacing the monthly credit pool with daily and weekly quotas that refresh automatically, and Pro moved to $20 a month alongside Max at $200 and Teams at $40 per user. Tab completions stay unmetered on every plan including free. The current build adds an Agent Command Center for running local and cloud agents in parallel and hands long tasks off to Devin. Check devin.ai for pricing, not old Codeium listings.
