What is HireVue?

HireVue is one of the oldest video interviewing platforms, combining asynchronous recorded interviews, live interviews, game-based and coding assessments, and structured interview guides so enterprises can screen large candidate volumes before a recruiter joins a call. It integrates with major ATS platforms including Greenhouse, Workday, iCIMS and SAP SuccessFactors, and has grown through acquisitions including Modern Hire and Hireguide. The AI question deserves a precise answer. HireVue discontinued facial and visual analysis in January 2021 after audits and sustained criticism, and its own data scientist reportedly found visual data added marginal predictive value; current scoring evaluates the transcript of verbal answers against competency models. Legal exposure has not disappeared, with an ACLU-supported EEOC and Colorado civil rights charge filed in March 2025. Using it carries compliance duties under Illinois and New York City AI hiring laws. It is not an ATS, and reported contracts start around $25,000 to $35,000 a year.
